Libby officials knew health costs of asbestos contamination
A woman who lived near the site of a former asbestos mine says that its manager knew of health problems among mine workers and citizens of the town while the mine was still in operation. Lerah Parker gave her testimony as part of an ongoing asbestos case brought against the company that owned the mine, W.R. Grace & Co., and five former officials with the company. (more…)
Wisc. court rules insurer must pay full costs of asbestos lawsuits
The Wisconsin Supreme Court has ruled that an insurance company that represents a former manufacturer of asbestos-containing products must cover the cost of injuries related to exposure to those products. The court ruled that Liberty Mutual must cover the cost of injuries related to asbestos exposure involving products manufactured by Plastics Engineering Co. (more…)
Former baseball player Dave Roberts dies of cancer
Dave Roberts, a former major league pitcher and member of the 1979 World Series champion Pittsburg Pirates, died this week of lung cancer caused by asbestos exposure. He was 64 years old. (more…)
